 Most of these glorious havens have been lost in the mist of time. Happily, a few hotels of distinction survive. Entering the Terrace Inn recalls one regular “is like walking into 1910” the Hemlock paneled lobby and parlor, a crackling fire on chilly nights, and smiling pretty receptionist to greet you create an immediate feeling of warmth and nostalgia.

"This was such a great historic inn and you and the entire staff made it all the more enjoyable. We really loved our room, our dinner on Friday night and thanks to Emily (whom I now feel is a family member!) the flowers, chocolates and wine - priceless!
