Banquet Guide


Thank you for your interest in the Terrace Inn as a destination for your event. From weddings to business functions, memorial services to reunions, the Terrace Inn has been serving guests to Bay View most of a hundred years.

Our goal is your happiness and we will do everything possible to ensure your event is a success. We appreciate the opportunity to host your occasion, so please do not hesitate to ask if you have an idea, preference or question of any kind.

Please note that fees are quoted individually since each event is unique. The facility fee varies depending on season, size of event, exclusivity, staff requirements and special services requested.

Events held during prime hours require a higher fee, while those on off-days, hours, or seasons may require none at all. Please review our policies which entail those mandated by our Bay View association membership, city ordinances, and state liquor laws. At all times, we keep the mission of Bay View foremost, an institution of tradition and Christian values with an emphasis on art, education, and recreational opportunities.

Please consider the menus described below as just a preview of what we can offer you and your guests. Menus can be adjusted based on individual needs and preferences making your event as unique as you want it to be.


Dinner Options

Buffets
Buffets are a nice choice for a more casual affair, and are recommended for larger groups.

Our most popular is our Northern Michigan Buffet which features:

  • Fresh Baked Whitefish right from Lake Michigan,
  • Chicken Hemingway
    (Our own recipe - a Light White Wine Basil Sauce
    with Dried Cherries,
  • Prime Roast Beef, and
  • Choice of Potato, Fresh Bread, and Non-Alcoholic Beverage.
  • Mixed Berry Crisp, Mandarin Orange Carrot Cake, Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie, or Fruit Pie
$25.95 per person plus 6% tax and 18% gratuity

Substitute pasta for beef: $22.95 per person plus tax and gratuity.
Substitute Prime Rib for roast beef: $27.95 per person plus tax and gratuity.
Substitute perch for whitefish: $27.95 per person plus tax and gratuity.
Two entree buffet - chicken and pasta, or fish and pasta: $19.95 per person plus tax and gratuity.

  • Cake cutting (we cut and portion and serve the cake to your guests) $35
  • Chef for a carving station $50
  • Non-stock colored tablecloths and/or napkins. Included in your fee are white or ivory linens. We will provide you color choices other than ivory or white and quote the additional cost.

Dinner Substitutions:

Chicken Hemingway may be substituted with the following for no extra charge: Chicken Parmigiana, Chicken Marsala, Chicken Piccata.

Pasta Puttanesca may be substituted with the following for no extra charge: Rustic Pasta with Pine Nuts, Vegetarian Lasagna with Eggplant or Spinach and Ricotta, Italian Lasagna with Sausage and Sweet Bell Peppers, Pasta Alfredo or Shrimp Scampi.

Roast beef may be substituted with the following : Beef Tips and Noodles, Lasagna, Meatballs, Roast Turkey, Plath’s Ham.

Plated Meals

Plated meals offer a more formal and elegant atmosphere to your event. Please refer to our dining menu for choices. In addition, we can offer Beef Wellington, which is a very special English dish, popular in Victorian times if keeping within the historic theme is desired. (All entrees come with Contemporary Twice Baked Potato and French Beans)

Lunch

Hot Buffet: includes Chicken Hemingway, Whitefish, Garden Salad, bread, cookie, non-alcoholic beverage. Pitchers of soda available for self-serve.

$15.95 plus tax per person

Cold Sandwich Buffet: includes make-your-own sandwich choices on white or wheat bread, roast beef, deli sliced ham, sliced turkey, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, non-alcoholic beverage and chocolate chip cookie with a side of chips and pickle. Pitchers of soda are self-serve and unlimited refills on Pepsi products.

$11.95 plus tax per person
Add cup of soup for $2.50 per person plus tax

Plated lunches: Plated lunches offer more service and beverages and salad dressings are ordered individually. Everything is served to the table. We can plate any of our lunch options as they are listed or you can order a half sandwich and cup of soup. Beverages are included (non-alcoholic, Pepsi products). Price is based on 1 choice. If you would like to ask guests in advance and give 2 choices, that is a possibility for just a bit more. Mixed Berry Crisp is included in the plated lunch option and is very popular.

Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea is a perfect way to host a group of friends for a birthday, baby shower, reunion or other fitting occasion. In Victorian times, one always had tea and scones available for “drop-in" guests between 2-4. It was a time to relax and refresh and was an elegant affair. We can host an afternoon tea for a minimum of 20 guests using our original antique china.

Afternoon Tea includes:
  • a variety of traditional Earl Greys
  • Michigan Berry and Jasmine Tea made in Michigan by a special small company
  • Homemade Scones
  • Petite Cucumber Sandwiches
  • Petit Fours
  • Walnuts with Blue Cheese
  • Pear Tea Bread and grapes to garnish.
This lovely menu is served on elegant silver trays with sugar cubes and cream.

$12.95 plus tax per person

High Tea

High tea was a less formal occasion, often taking the place of dinner, being held from 4-6. High tea includes
  • a variety of teas
  • Puffs filled with Chicken Salad
  • Pound Cake with Lemon Glaze
  • Celery with Cream Cheese Filling
  • Cucumber Tea Sandwiches
  • Deviled Eggs with Paprika
  • Rosemary Shortbread Cookies
  • Sliced Cheese, nuts, and a garnish of seasonal fruit.
Minimum of 20 guests is required.
$18.95 plus tax per person

Day Packages

Our Day Package includes Breakfast, Lunch, and Afternoon Snack.
8 a.m. Breakfast: buffet of bagels, fruit, fruit juice, coffee , tea, hard-boiled eggs and yogurt
Lunch: cold sandwich buffet with a cup of soup and a pickle or chips.
Afternoon Snack: piece of whole fruit (apple, banana or orange) or cookies.
Coffee, tea, and water available throughout the day.

$23.95 plus tax per person

Pizza Buffet

We make the most incredible pizzas (12-inch) from scratch, hand-kneading the dough and baking on a special stone. Only fine cheeses are used, fresh herbs, and each pizza is made individually. Standards include Pepperoni, Pizza Bianca, and Ham and Mushroom. Cheese is automatically cheese and mushroom.

A pizza buffet for a minimum of 20 guests costs $250.00 plus tax.

The Terrace Inn has
a fully licensed bar.



According to State Beverage Laws, guests must be 21 years of age to consume alcohol. Alcohol consumed on premise must be purchased from the Inn, with the exception of private guest rooms.
